Csontváry Chess Cafe

At an exclusive place in the  Hungarian National Gallery you will have the opportunity to have coffe and play chess next to one of the most famous paintings of Tivadar Csontvary Kosztka, the Ruins of Greek Theatre at Taormina, 1905 (See below).

Tivadar Csontvary Kosztka's paintings are characterized by expressionism and post-impressionism, but he did not belong to any artistic movements. He listed himself among the "Way to the sun painters" (Napút painters). Maybe his most famous painting is the Lonely cedar (1907), which was given this title only after the death of the artist. Its original title was A Cedar from Lebanon. He bacame famous only post-mortem, at the exhibition of Szekesfehérvár in 1963.
