Judit Polgar’s Global Chess Festival 2021 will be a hybrid festival: we look forward to meeting you again in person in Budapest or online in a large-scale program brimming with creativity and innovation.The richness of chess is highlighted in presentations about Sport, Art, Science and Education. Chess lovers worldwide can take part in tournaments, simuls and chess classes from beginner-level to masterclass. The Chess Artistry Competition challenges study composers from all ages to send in their best creations. With the Goodwill Ambassador of Chess Awards we express our gratitude to outstanding personalities promoting our game. As always we welcome chess events from all over the world to join in on October 9, 2021 to celebrate the power and inspiration of chess.
Historic talk between Garry Kasparov, former World Champion and Judit Polgar, the greatest female chess player of all time. Though the pair first met three decades ago and have been long-time rivals, the friendly conversation covered a range of topics, from Kasparov’s career and the duo’s shared history to the current World Champion Magnus Carlsen and the rise of chess engines. “I was quite suspicious about our future chances of playing machines after my second match with Deep Blue,” says Kasparov on the topic of chess computers. “I still have my hopes, but we could see in the first five years that the rise of chess engines was unstoppable.”

Dessert with the Polgar Sisters
A talk with the Polgar Sisters led by Yasser Seirawan. From four parts of the world (the Netherlands, USA, Israel and Hungary) Yasser and the three sisters Susan, Sofia and Judit, get together for an enjoyable dessert. The Polgar sisters talk freely about their shared adventures, differences in character, education, gender issues and whatever their mild-mannered yet inquisitive host brings up for discussion.
