CHESS PALACE, GENERATIVE AI AND CRITICAL THINKING IN EDUCATION
September 26, Saturday
Hungarian National Gallery, 2nd floor
As part of the 12th Judit Polgár Global Chess Festival, educators from Chess Palace Reference Schools will once again come together. This year’s meeting will focus on a particularly timely question: how is artificial intelligence changing teaching and the role of educators?

AI can create an entire year’s curriculum in seconds. But can it do it well?
And if it can, what is left for the teacher to do? Accept it, correct it, develop it further – or perhaps learn to ask entirely different questions?
In Éva Gyarmathy’s workshop, chess, generative AI and critical thinking come together. We will explore what AI can do in education – and what teachers can achieve without it and together with it. Participants will work on the same teaching task, incorporating elements of chess, first without AI, then with AI, and finally with the help of different AI tools, before comparing the results.
Because there is a lot we can learn from AI. But ultimately, we’re still the ones who need to do the thinking.
The programme is in Hungarian language.
The organizers reserve the right to make changes to the program.
